Philip Crabb FAusIMM, MAICD

Mr Crabb is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has been actively engaged in mining and exploration for the past 46 years in both publicly listed and private exploration companies. He has considerable experience in field activities, having been a drilling contractor, quarry manager and mining contractor. Mr Crabb also has extensive experience as a director of Australian publicly listed companies. In resource company management, he achieved notable success amongst others as a director of Gasgoyne Gold Mines NL, which was involved in the discovery and development in 1989 of the Yilgarn Star Gold Mine, a major gold producer in WA. Mr Crabb is currently a director of Canadian publicly listed Aldershot Resources Ltd (since 2009) and ASX-listed Royal Resources Limited (since 2006).


Mr Philip George Crabb was born in Kalgoorlie in 1940. He was educated at Bunbury Senior High School. His father Philip and mother Betty were both offspring of mining parents and born in Kalgoorlie. Philip’s grandparents of his father's side were both ‘cousin jacks’ born in Moonta, South Australia. Their parents emigrated from Cornwall in England. Philip’s grandparents had 12 children.......

Philip Crabb was Campaign Chairman for both the Cancer Foundation of WA and Balya Cancer Self Help and Wellness. He was also a keen football player over many years with both the Claremont Football Club and the South Bunbury Football Club. He has been both Vice President and President of South Bunbury Football Club, and is currently the Vice Patron of the Claremont Football Club.......

Awards

Philip Crabb has won a number of awards for his professional and charitable efforts.

He is a life member of the WA Mining Hall of Fame, in 2000, he was awarded the President’s Medal by the Cancer Council of Western Australia and in 2002 he was nominated for West Australian Entrepreneur of The Year. The award Mr Crabb is most proud of is winning the Diggers & Dealers Award for Mining Entrepreneur of The Year in 1992.

State Library of WA Foundation

Philip Crabb is a huge supporter of the On the Homefront appeal organised by the State Library of Western Australia and the State Library of WA Foundation. This appeal is very close to Philip's heart as his uncle and grandfather both served their country in The First World War. On the Homefront is an appeal for funds to ensure the digital survival of important World War I records.
